Black and white photograph of protest crowd in response to Brexit in London
On 23 June 2016, the UK voted to leave the EU by a majority of 51.9%, while in Northern Ireland 55.8% voted to remain.

This two pence piece from the artist Minty McFarthing has been inscribed with 'Peoples Vote', which was a commentary on the UK Brexit crisis. Inspired by the Suffragettes' Votes for Women pennies, it has been hand stamped and circulated throughout the UK by way of a peaceful protest. Examples of these coins were sent to museums in each of the 28 EU nations.
