How to book

  1. Fill out our Online Booking Enquiry Form (or if you prefer to download and fill out, download the enquiry form here and email it to [email protected]). 
  2. Wait for your booking confirmation to come through. Your booking is not confirmed until you hear back from us. It may take a few working days to review and respond.

FAQs

The Ulster Museum is open Tuesday – Sunday, 10am – 5pm. The museum may be open on public and bank holiday Mondays – always check our website for the most up-to-date opening hours around public and bank holidays.

We strongly recommend pre-booking your group visit. All you have to do is download and fill out the group booking form here and email it to [email protected]

Pre-booking will enable us to provide additional important information for your visit in advance.

Please allow XX days for us to receive, review and respond to your booking form. Bookings are not confirmed until the availability is checked and a booking confirmation is received in writing.

We recommend allowing 1 to 3 hours to explore everything the museum has to offer at your leisure. There is no time limit to your visit.

Our recommended routes have regular ‘drop-off’ points which lead to the exit if you do not wish to visit all the galleries. We also have a ‘fast-track’ system to our art galleries on level 5 if you’re visiting to see a particular temporary exhibition. Staff will always be on hand to help direct you.

The Ulster Museum is a free-entry museum, where you can discover five floors of local and global collections spanning art, history and natural science.

When you get here, please report to the reception desk where numbers can be confirmed and payment processed (if applicable).

No, all visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. As part of group visits, adult-to-child supervision ratios apply. Please get in touch with the museum reception for details, either via email or phone +44 (0) 28 9044 0000.


 

Catering for groups

Wynne & Pym café is open during museum hours, offering a selection of hot and cold food and refreshments. Find out more about the museum café here.

It is possible to book catering through our catering partners. We work with Craft Event Co. If you note on your group booking form that catering is required, we can provide contact details and a full menu

If you note on your group booking form that a space to eat packed lunches is required, we can consider your request and availability of spaces in the museum on your booking date and advise accordingly.

The museum is situated in the grounds of Belfast's Botanic Gardens, where there is open, green spaces for your group to picnic.

Facilities and accessibility information

There are five parking spaces for blue badge holders outside the museum and these parking spaces cannot be reserved in advance. Parking is otherwise limited to nearby car parks and on-street parking and so, we recommend your group travels by bus/coach or public transport. There is a coach drop-off point on the Stranmillis Road, directly outside the museum.

(Please note: the Stranmillis Road becomes an urban clearway between 16.30 and 18.00 on weekdays).

We currently do not have any e-charging stations for electric cars (EV) on-site.

We offer a luggage room for large bags and suitcases. There are lockers (£1) for smaller bags/storing personal belongings.

No food or drink is permitted in any of the galleries.

We offer free electric/manual wheelchair hire – please go to reception on arrival. 

Adjustments to bookings should be received no later than 48 hours prior to your group's visit.
