Belfast 'OUTing The Past' returns to the museum with a line-up of six speakers, each delivering a talk on different aspects of LGBTQIA+ history and heritage and how we explore these often hidden or unheard stories.

Taking place in the museum Lecture Theatre, presentations will include:

  • Male Homosexuality and Emigration in Ireland, 1891-1922 by Michael Lawrence
  • Queer Britain: Amplifying LGBTQ+ Voices by Katherine Dick
  • The Enemy Across the Barricades: Gay Men’s Experience of the Troubles by Dr Anthony Donnelly-Drummond
  • The Importance of Digital Archives by Joe Walsh
  • A Forgotten Belfast Scandal: Class, Politics and Policing Homosex in the 1950s by Dr Charlie Lynch
  • ‘It all started one January’ by the Queerspace Collective
