Book TicketsDue to unforeseen circumstances, the Amanda Croft’s lecture series has been postponed until Tuesday 4th March. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will be in touch in due course to advise if new dates will be added to the programme.
New way to book!
As we embed a new ticketing system, we've had to change the way you book the Amanda Croft Lecture Series. Instead of one ticket for the full lecture series as before, you now book each week's lecture, getting a ticket per date/lecture.
- There are 10 lectures in the series, taking place on a Tuesday, over 10 separate dates. You will need to show the relevant ticket for that week's lecture, done by making a separate booking on each date (11th Feb, 18th Feb, no lecture on 25th Feb, 4th Mar, 11th Mar, 18th Mar, 25th Mar, 1st Apr and 8th Apr)
- On the booking page, the ticket quantity on each date should be 1. You will need to make 10 separate bookings on each date above.
- Please click across the calendar months to book each date individually.
- Lectures are priced at £5 per week (or £4 per concession).
- You can still book on to every lecture or just the ones that suit you best.
- Booking can currently only be done online. Please get in touch at [email protected] with any questions.
Amanda Croft Lecture Series: The Face
What defines a "successful" portrait? Is it the accurate likeness of the sitter, or does it also reveal the artist's aesthetic vision? How much should it communicate about the subject's character and occupation?
In this series of illustrated talks in the Ulster Museum Lecture Theatre, we will explore these questions by examining portraits from the collections of the Ulster Museum, Queen’s University, and other national and international galleries. From self-portraits and selfies to the dynamics of double and group portraits, we will delve into the diverse approaches to portraiture and its evolving role in art and society.
