Michael Dolley Memorial Lectures
Join the Numismatic Society of Ireland (Northern Branch) for an afternoon of free talks at the Ulster Museum.
Free to attendThis gallery talk will focus on the recent changes to the definition of Treasure, with reference to two coin hoards recently acquired by Ulster Museum
This gallery talk explores the recent changes to the definition of Treasure. We'll also be delving into two coin hoards we've recently acquired - the 11th century hoard of Hiberno-Manx coinage from Carnacavill, Co. Down and the mid-17th century hoard from near Kinbane Castle, Co. Antrim.
Our numismatics collections hold artistic, social, cultural, and political value. These important collections allow us to trace the rapid development of life during the medieval and later periods of history.
This talk is just before the Michael Dolley Anniversary Lecture, which is being held in partnership between National Museums NI and the Numismatics Society of Ireland (Northern Brand) to better preserve, promote and make numismatic heritage accessible to all.
